Frequently asked questions

How do I identify a wine?

Tap “Scan a wine” and frame the whole label, well lit and without glare. The app reads the text, looks up the wine and shows its entry. When in doubt, it offers several wines instead of choosing for you.

Why isn’t my wine recognised?

It may not be in our database yet, or the label was hard to read. Try again in better light, or add the bottle manually to your cellar: the text read helps us enrich the database.

Does the app work offline?

Mostly, yes: your cellar, your favourites, the wine library, the wine styles and the entries you have already viewed remain available. Searching the full catalogue, price estimates and the assistant require a connection.

Where do the prices come from?

From dated price records whose source is shown. They are indicative ranges, not an appraisal. When no reliable data exists, the app says so instead of inventing a figure.

What is the wine library?

A selection of great wines from around the world built into the app and available offline: estate, appellation, grape varieties, serving, food pairings and ageing. It deliberately contains no prices or ratings, which change every year.

Where do the bottle photos come from?

From Wikimedia Commons and Flickr, under free licences checked on the original page, with the author’s name and licence under each image, and from photos suggested by users after review. We do not use photos we have no right to use.

Is my data shared?

No. No advertising and no resale. The details are in the privacy policy.

How do I find my cellar on a new phone?

Link an email address to your account (Profile → My account), then sign in with that address on the new device. Without a linked address, the cellar stays tied to the original phone.

What does the Premium plan include?

Unlimited scans, cellar bottles and questions to the assistant (the free plan includes 5 per month, 25 and 3 per day), price history and the rare wines section.

How do I delete my account?

Profile → Delete my account. All your data is erased. You can download it first with “Export my data”.
